100 Foot Wave Season 2 Episode 1 release date is what makes the fans curious right now. The series throws light on a documentary television series that has been commissioned by HBO for their channel. In the lead, we come across Garrett McNamara who happens to surf on some of the biggest waves that come on the ocean. The series has been directed by Chris Smith.
In the series, we see Garrett going over to Nazaré in Portugal in the first season. His biggest goal was to surf over a 100-foot wave. After a successful first season of the series, the creators had no choice but to renew the show for yet another installment. The announcement came back in 2021 for a second season but it is only in the spring of 2023 that we are going to see a new batch of episodes.
The entire season throws light on McNamara and his career as a professional big wave surfer. We get to see the cameras following him around daily on the beach and he tries to seize the day by rocking up against the huge waves that are seen on the water. Back in season 1, we saw his time in Nazaré where he tries to find a 100-foot wave.
We also see the lead man interacting and socializing with the locals at the beach who have experience with the big waves and the weather that might cause them. Nazaré is popularly known for the big waves that are available at the beaches. Along with McNamara, the focus is also laid on other big-wave surfers who take part in this show to catch the iconic 100-foot high wave.
100 Foot Wave Season 1 Recap
Back in the last episode of season 1 titled More Than Just a Wipeout, we saw that Nazaré competition day is finally here and all the surfers are gearing up for the big day. Although, Garrett has decided that he will not be taking part in the same. Instead, he is just going to cheer for his long-time best friend named Andrew Cotton who is also known as Cotty. Unfortunately, we see that things do not go as planned for Cotty. He gets into a huge accident on water that has some effects on his physical health.
After the competition was over, Garrett took out his own surfboard and decided to go out for the same in the ocean for a while. He comes across some great waves that prove that surfing can be renewed once again in Nazare even after the accident.
By the end of the episodes, we saw an edit that threw light on all the surfers who were seen on the screen this time in the entire season. The shoe has also won a Primetime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Cinematography for a Non-Fiction Program. At the same event, it was also nominated for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series.
