A podcaster and a rabbi walk into a dinner party… and immediately form a connection. So is the plot of Netflix’s megahit, Nobody Wants This, which chronicles the budding romance between Joanne, an LA podcaster, and Noah, a freshly single rabbi in training.

The show’s success undoubtedly stems from the stellar chemistry between Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, but also because viewers are met with a healthy, green-flag relationship unfolding on-screen (we love to see it!)

Flawless as this series is, I’m left with a few burning questions: Will Noah’s meddling parents ever come around to Joanne? What will become of the ex, Rebecca? What the heck is happening between Sasha and Morgan? Will Joanne and Noah stand the test of time? With Season 2 on the horizon, let’s dive into what we know so far about this next chapter.

***SPOILERS AHEAD***

1. Writing for Season 2 has already begun!

Mere weeks after Nobody Wants This started streaming, Netflix announced a second season. “We’ve been in the writers’ room for about three weeks now,” says the show’s creator Erin Foster in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “Kristen [Bell] came into the room with Justine [Lupe, who plays Morgan] to hear some storylines that we were working on. And she says she hasn’t gotten a reaction to anything like this, literally, since Frozen.”

2. Though the show is based on Foster’s life with her Jewish now-husband, Joanne and Noah will continue to have their own unique journey.

“Joanne does not have to have the same journey that I had,” Foster tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I intentionally made season one so different from our real life and our real story. [My husband’s] parents watched the show, and they didn’t see much of themselves in the characters. You have to take creative license. Not only because it’s a TV show, but to pull away from the real characters. Also, there’s not enough conflict in my real life. My in-laws, unfortunately, are very nice to me, so there’s no fun material to mine from that.”

3. A new team of creatives will have their hand in the second season.

4. Season 2 will focus on Joanne and Noah’s relationship as they begin to integrate into the other’s world.

With cultural differences aplenty, it’s no secret that Noah and Joanne will inevitably be faced with obstacles in the form of faith and family. We see the beginnings of this in Season 1, and Netflix says that Season 2 will likely “dig into that tension as the duo decide to commit — or not.”

5. Fans won’t have to wait long to be reunited with Noah and Joanne. Season 2 is slated for 2025!

“It’s basically going to be coming back, probably, in September again next year,” Foster tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Once a year, the same time, we’ll be really consistent. We’re just going to be a Rosh Hashanah launch, always.” She also notes that the second season will likely be 10 episodes.

6. Season 2 may not be the end of Joanne and Noah’s story…

Netflix / Via tenor.com

“There are a lot of stories to tell,” says Foster to The Hollywood Reporter. “We’ve been in the writers’ room […] and we keep coming up with storylines and being like, ‘That’s for Season 3.’ And we’re like, ‘Should we just make a board and pitch out Season 3 to them at the same time?’ Because we have ideas.”
