Godzilla officially has a new movie in production, with Takashi Yamazaki as the director. Coming following the success that was Godzilla Minus One, Yamazaki will again be looking to make a hit with giant franchise as the writer, director, and VFX supervisor. Yamazaki is one of the leading figures in the Japanese movie industry, and he was involved with many adaptations of popular titles. Some of his works include Always: Sunset on Third Street (2005), The Eternal Zero (2013), Stand by Me Doraemon (2014), Parasyte (2014–2015), and Lupin III: The First (2019).
He also directed Godzilla Minus One, premiered in Japanese theaters in November 2023 and became one of the most successful movies in the 70-year-old franchise. For their work on the movie, Yamazaki and his team got nominated for an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects, which they ended up winning.
The Godzilla franchise also released an anime titled Godzilla: Singular Point in 2021. Netflix is streaming both the anime and the Godzilla Minus One movie.
Godzilla began in 1954, with 38 movies released in the following 70 years until now. They also recently revealed a special video to commemorate the anniversary.
