Following Google's announcement of the Android XR operating system for extended reality (XR) devices, Samsung has revealed more about its development. Samsung has worked with Google and Qualcomm for years to create Android XR, showing its dedication to XR technology.
Samsung introduced its first Android XR-compatible headset, codenamed Moohan, meaning “infinity” in Korean. Described as “your spatial canvas,” Moohan is great for exploring Google Maps, watching YouTube, and planning trips with the Gemini assistant.
The headset boasts advanced displays, passthrough capabilities, and natural multi-modal input. Notably, Samsung did not mention its virtual assistant, Bixby, sparking curiosity about its future.
Designed for comfort, Moohan is lightweight and ergonomically optimized for extended wear. However, details about its technical specifications, like display resolution, processing power, and battery life, are still under wraps.
More details are expected next year, with rumors of a broader reveal showcasing Moohan’s full potential and how Android XR could shape the future of extended reality.
