Altman acknowledged Musk's crucial role in OpenAI’s early success but pointed out that Musk left the board in 2018 and has since become a vocal critic, even filing a lawsuit against the company.

According to Altman, Musk’s animosity likely stems from OpenAI’s achievements and Musk’s competition with his own AI venture, xAI. Altman suggested that Musk would support OpenAI's current direction if he were still in charge.
