There are four major attachment styles:

Secure attachment style: You feel stable and secure in your relationships and thrive in the company of your partner or loved ones without being overly anxious when you are apart.

Anxious attachment style: You want to have relationships with others but struggle to believe they truly love you. Respecting boundaries can be difficult because you consider space in relationships a threat.

Avoidant attachment style: You are independent and believe you are best on your own and don’t need others. You tend to withdraw when a partner or loved one attempts to get close to you.

Disorganized attachment style: You tend to have traits of both anxious and avoidant attachment styles. You likely find relationships confusing and unsettling, tending to swing between extremes of love and hate with your partner or loved ones.

This quiz is inspired by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller’s bestselling book, Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment and How It Can Help You Find — and Keep — Love.
