The main character, Oraya, is the 23-year-old adopted daughter of the vampire Nightborn King but not a vampire herself, making for plenty of peril to escape from and fight through. The smooth pacing, engaging characters, first-person POV, and relatively quick spice payoff make it an easy read to get into. Keep in mind that this is a book about vampires, so if you’re not excited to picture blood during spicy scenes, this may not be your dish.
