Most Downloaded And Highest Earning Apps For Summer 2024 Revealed

When you think of the summer, it’s all about having fun and relaxing. Therefore, you’d assume more apps downloaded. However, recent reports from App Intelligence by Appfigures are showing a global slowdown when it comes to July downloads.

Instagram remained at the top of the list in terms of installations worldwide. It continued to reign supreme with a staggering 61 million downloads through the App and Play Store. And it wouldn’t be wrong to call it a repeat from the previous month.

In second place it was TikTok with 51 million downloads, a little less than what it experienced in June. Most of the decline came with the App Store while Google Play didn’t take too much of a hit.

To round up the top five, it was Facebook, Temu, and WhatsApp. They all had a little less downloads than what we saw in the previous month but most of them did stay on trend. We have to note that Temu is a new contender on the list. It saw a massive 30% rise in downloads so now it’s a part of the top five list with 11 million installations in July.

For Temu, July was a milestone month. They never received this much of a positive response, ending the month with a new 38 million high from both the App and Play Store. As per experts, we have Brazil to thank for this. It’s one of the biggest regions for Google Play and after launching in June, it’s seen a massive rise in popularity.

Brazil wants Temu, no matter what. And after we see its popularity in places like the US, this all makes sense. In other news, apps such as Telegram and CapCut failed to withstand the pressure as rankings dropped. The opposite was true for Threads and Snapchat in terms of downloads.

As a whole, the top ten platforms’ download estimates hit 352 million from both the App Store and Google Play. It’s just a small fall when you compare the previous findings.

In terms of which apps generated the greatest revenue in July this year, we again looked at App Intelligence for more information. As a whole, revenue rose by 11% in July and that brought the total near to the target of hitting one billion.

As far as which app scored the highest earnings, it was TikTok. Estimates showed it ending the month with a staggering $221 million which is almost 20% greater than what we saw in June.

The revenue for YouTube rose 11% and it ended in July with $150 million. To complete the top five, we had Disney Plus, Max, and Tinder who became a part of the greatest earning apps for last month.

The list is a replica of what we saw in June. To be more specific, one of the 10 apps is not the same as what we saw in June. So the difference is the Peacock app which replaced Hulu.

We think the app owes the Olympics for that, thanks to the massive amount of revenue produced during the leading sports event. Estimates saw it bringing in close to $40 million last month which is a massive rise from June. At the time, earnings hit the $32 million mark.

While we do give the Olympics credit, Peacock did witness a lot of growth last year as well.

As a whole, the list of top ten highest earning platforms earned a massive $880 million from both the App and Play Stores combined.
