“A Couple of Cuckoos” starts with Nagi Umino, a 16-year-old boy who feels like an outcast from his family. One fateful day, he learns that he is not the biological child of his parents. Confused about his feelings, undeterred and determined, he finds and meets his birth parents and learns about his shocking origins.
En route to meet his biological parents, serendipity plants a pivotal occurrence as he jolts into a famous internet celebrity, Erika Amano, who is running from an arranged marriage. They start a conversation, become friends and spend more time together. While getting to know each other, Nagi and Erika learned about the startling truth of their coincidental switching at birth in the hospital.

As luck would have it, their life is not done playing games. Another twist awaits them as their parents are trying to arrange a marriage between them so they, selfishly, don’t have to say goodbye to the children they raised. A parent’s love, well, more like a parent’s selfish grasping love!
Nagi and Erika are perturbed and refuse to follow their parents’ plan to marry them. To add salt to the wound, they both were compelled to live in the same house that Erika’s parents owned to make them fall in love before completing their graduation.
Erika and Nagi knew they were unhappy and didn’t reciprocate romantic feelings for each other and were determined to find a way out of this situation. However, Nagi and Erika tried to make the best of the time that they were spending together. They have a fun ride together.

In chapter 145 of A Couple of Cuckoos, titled “You Might Be Right About That,” we see Sousuke is late again! Old habits die hard, they say. On the other hand, Sachi doesn’t reveal to Nagi what Sousuke told her. He asks her continuously, however, to no avail. With a big nasty blow to his loins, he finally shuts up, but it leaves Sachi apologizing to him. However, Nagi has to take revenge. How could he let that wretched woman go? He pulls her leg, and she falls. However, it is not all fights, as this builds tension between the two.
