At the ASUS Zenbook launch event on March 10, various interesting products were set out for media guests to test. This included the ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED and the ASUS Zenbook Pro 14 Duo OLED, both of which we’ve reviewed in the past.
But of course, those weren’t the products people were there to see. The stars of the show are ASUS’s new releases—Zenbook 14X OLED and Zenbook 14 Flip OLED.
Zenbook 14X OLED
Dubbed the “perfect OLED laptop for digital nomads”, the 16.9mm-thick Zenbook 14X OLED can fold 180° to lie perfectly flat.
Fitted with the 13th Gen Intel Core processor, this laptop can handle up to 1TB of SSD storage and up to 16GB RAM.
The laptop can also come with a GeForce RTX 3050 graphics and 4GB GDDR6 graphics memory.
For how sleek and stylish it looks, this laptop is surprisingly tough. The Zenbook 14X OLED has undergone 26 durability tests to be deemed as a US military-grade laptop.
With a 70Wh battery capacity, it has up to 10 hours of battery life and features fast-charge technology (60% in 49 minutes).
Its ASUS IceCool thermal technology means it comes with two heat pipes and vents and up to 45W GPU performance while emitting less than 40 dB of sound when in standard mode.
With a 2880 x 1800 resolution touchscreen, this laptop comes in up to 14.5-inch display and up to 120 Hz refresh rate. It features what ASUS calls a NanoEdge touchscreen with an 89% screen-to-body ratio.
It’s also Pantone validated for colour accuracy.
It’s available in two colourways—Sandstone Beige and Inkwell Gray. Sandstone Beige features a plasma ceramisation finish, meaning it has a stony texture and ceramic-like feel. It’s said to use environmentally-friendly technology with neutral aqueous electrolytes.
Meanwhile, the Inkwell Gray colour has an anodised body.
Zenbook 14 Flip OLED
The key difference is that the Zenbook has 360° hinges which lets it easily convert into a tablet. It also features a 2880 x 1800 resolution, 90Hz high refresh rate touchscreen.
Its 14-inch screen uses Corning® Gorilla® Glass NBT, a material that has been strictly tested and proven to perform more durably. It’s also more scratch-resistant, which is important for a touchscreen.
On the topic of touchscreens, the laptop comes with the ASUS Pen 2.0, touted to be more intuitive.
At 15.9mm thickness, this laptop is 1.5kg and has a 75Wh battery capacity, boasting up to 15 hours of battery life and fast-charging technology.
Like the Zenbook 14X OLED, it has been tested to meet U.S. Military-grade durability standards. It Zenbook 14 Flip OLED also has a NanoEdge screen, with a screen-to-body ratio of 87%.
The laptop also comes with FHD IR camera with adaptive colour light sensor.
