BTS V, aka Kim Taehyung and Blankpink’s Jennie, has always been a favorite topic of dating in the Kpop world. Since both BTS and Blackpink are the most popular kpop group not only in South Korea but also worldwide, maybe this popularity leads to numerous rumors of BTS members dating Blankpink members.
Out of all, one of the most famous dating rumor couples is V and Jennie. Since Jennie and former Exo member Kai’s ended their relationship and both companies released an official statement, rumors regarding Jennie dating V are now circulating at lightning speed.

Are the Rumors Spreading True? Let us find out
It all started when some fabricated photos of V and Jennie together were started spreading on Twitter posted by some anonymous account first. Some fans believed and started shipping them seriously, whereas most of BTS’s fans, known as Army and Blackpink’s fans Blink, could not trust these rumors.

In December 2021, all BTS member made their personal Instagram account. V, enjoying posting his thrust traps on Instagram, accidentally followed Jennie’s Instagram account, creating chaos in Kpop. Fans understood that it must be a mistake since it was V’s first use of Instagram, and he unfollowed immediately later.
But it was great material for anti-fans to turn into a dating rumor. Later V himself addressed the mistake on Weverse by posting, “Recommend by Instragram is their way to get rid of this?… It’s a scary app.” This proves how it was just a mistake by V and not done with any intention. It was not the first time something like this happened in Kpop. NCT Doyoung once accidentally liked Blackpink’s posts.

Going on a date to Jeju Island!
However, their first dating picture surfaced in May of 2022. South Korean media outlets started circulating pictures of V and Jennie driving in cars on Jeju Island. That time V is on vacation to Jeju Island with his friends, whereas for Jennie, it’s not confirmed. He was seeing this Fans started to inspect the pictures.
ARMYs believed it was photoshopped; on the other hand, BLINKs noticed that the hair color of the woman in the picture was not the same as Jennie’s hair color at that time. Jennie’s hair color was orange at that time, whereas in the alleged photo, the women’s hair color is black-brown.

Clicking Backstage Picture Together.
Now more pictures of V and Jennie together started leaking, which fueled dating rumors of them. The second picture leaked was a mirror selfie taken backstage, which blew up KPOP. In the picture, three people can be seen, where Jennie clicking the picture, holding the phone, and V is sitting while his stylist is curling his hair. Since fans couldn’t find the existing shots like the Jeju Island dating picture, therefore it wasn’t easy to point out whether the picture was photoshopped or was taken in real.

Was it all a planned scandal?
Most of the photos leaked of both V and Jennie were from the Twitter account Gurumiharibo. Photos were so realistic to believe at first sight. Fans couldn’t find any existing shots, but that doesn’t mean all pictures were 100% authentic. Later few fans approached Gurumiharibo via mail and asked if they could edit photos of idols dating.
Surprisingly Gurumiharibo replied, asking which idol they wanted to get involved in dating rumors. It raised many questions if it was all pre-planned to get idols into a huge scandal or if Gurumiharibo was earning profit by making such edits.
It was also found in the end that the pictures Gurumi Haribo mostly used in their edits were the pictures idols had on their phone and which they never posted on any of their social media handles nor released by any means. So it was pretty obvious that Gurumi Haribo hacked the idol’s phone and got their hand on these pictures; doing so would prevent fans from tracing if these pictures were edited or real.

Hybe Entertainment and YG Entertainment’s reactions to these Rumours.
When the first rumor surfaced, YG said, “They have nothing to say” Meanwhile, Hybe remained silent. But around October 2022, both the labels took a step forward and released an official statement stating they would take legal action against leaking idols’ photographs and spreading false information.

Even after both agencies posted an official statement regarding taking legal action against this issue, Gurumiharibo didn’t seem affected. Gurumi Haribo shared on their Telegram group chat that if anyone wants to sue them for spreading false information, they have plenty of evidence to prove them as a fair person. Although his Twitter account was suspended, they continued posting personal pictures of idols on their Telegram group chat, which is, of course, very scary even to imagine.
Gurumiharabo’s Twitter account was suspended on asked by members of Gurumi’s group chat Gurumi replied they were not in jail, neither got arrested nor received any legal notice regarding this issue.
No doubt our Kpop idols always have hectic schedules, and some companies don’t allow their idols to date during their contract period, so dating rumors of Kpop idols are mostly groundless. And it’s not the first time dating rumors like this have come up. Most of the time, BTS members are dating any Blackpink member in rumors. But people like Gurumi Haribo should get punished for leaking and using idols’ pictures and fueling the dating rumors more.
