Finally. Cromartie High school – a manga that I’ve been wanting to read for a long time and finally had the chance to get on it. I actually started it because it might be the last manga I read this year since I’ll be going on a hiatus from NOV 7th and thought why not read the manga that has been in my planning list for ages. Don’t worry I’ll post till this Sunday but after that my Board exams are coming soon so, exams again.

One of the reasons I picked Cromartie High school was because the story felt so similar to that of Kyou kara ore wa and Angel densetsu – two mangas I absolutely love and since I’m a sucker for surreal comedies, I thought this was the perfect pick.

I’ve read a few chapters so far and I already love it. I expected it to be the same as others, it is but also had it’s own twist. The main character in Cromartie High school “Takashi Kamiyama” is neither a delinquent nor a scary looking dude, just a another above-average student until he decided to enroll at Cromartie. Everyone else at Cromartie assumes that he’s the toughest kid in school, since a rabbit would never go into a den of lions (unless it was a really badass rabbit). He has ambitions to change the school for the sake of bettering its student body.

Kamiyama is totally different from the other MCs, he tries his best to adapt into the High school by trying to act like delinquents, dyeing hair, acting tough, staring, not studying but nothing seems to work out for him that is until his class tries to choose the strongest student and surprisingly Kamiyama is nominated. After a chaotic competition Kamiyama is chosen as the strongest and hence begins a 300+ chapters of non-stop comedy.

Similar to Moriking there’s not much characterial expressions like Gintama but that is it’s biggest strength, rather if there was surreal expressions it would ruin the atmosphere of the whole manga which is solely built on dialogues that of similar to The Simpsons. If you’ve watched The Simpsons you might not know that there is no laughter tracks used because of it’s perfect timing for jokes and that’s how Cromartie High school, they find the prefect timing for jokes so the manga just keeps adding on and on with hysterical dialogues.

So far I love this manga and can’t wait to read more.

Thank you for reading.
