Want some quick shifter romances with a host of different situations, characters, and thrilling dangers? Eve Langlais has created a great, quick read series of seven books each with a slightly different feel to them. They’re all fated mates stories that present obstacles in the way of the characters having a life together. While each book is a short, quick read, I really enjoyed the characters, the world, and the fact that Langlais didn’t stick with just one shifter type. We have wolves, big cats, bears, all the big predators. However, I would say if you’re not into ménage-a-trois to maybe find another series, since five out of seven of the books feature MFM relationships. Otherwise, I think shifter romance fans will really love this series.

Book 1 Goodreads Description: Dammit, just how many toes was she going to have to stomp on before people realized she was a Delicate Freakn’ Flower? Naomi doesn’t want to follow tradition and settle down with a violence-loving, chest-thumping shapeshifter. She grew up in a household with five testosterone-laden brothers, where none of the dishes ever matched, the ugly-as-sin furniture could withstand any catastrophe, and where Krazy Glue was bought by the case. When fate–with a snicker–makes her meet not one, but two mates, Naomi digs her heels in and refuses to do what her wolf–and her body–demands. No way is she voluntarily allowing herself to get hitched to a pair of dumbass–totally hot and muscled–lacrosse players. Can Ethan, the towering Kodiak bear, and Javier, the sexy, tanned jaguar, convince this she-wolf that life with them won’t be all chaos? And can this delicate freakn’ flower unbend her prejudices enough to recognize she needs a pair of men who can handle her thorns–and her passion?

The world that Langlais has created features shifters that have to hide their identity from humanity, and a shifter High Council that oversees everything to make sure their secret remains a secret. All of the shifters featured in the books are large predators like wolves, bears, jaguars, panthers, and clouded leopards, each with their own kind of personality as it relates to their animal. We have the large and protective, but soft on the inside Bear shifters. The rough around the edges, family comes first wolf shifters. The independent and sexually promiscuous big cats. Then we have the humans caught in the middle. It makes for some really interesting combinations and romances. The main group that Langlais focuses on, however, is a large family of wolves. Each book features one of the sons or the daughter finding their mates and integrating them into their large family

Book 1: A jock, menage romance between a bear, jaguar, and wolf. Ethan and Javier work together to please and seduce Naomi into becoming their mate, convincing her she won’t find what she needs with a regular human husband.

Book 2: A fake dating, childhood, ménage romance between Naomi’s brother Mitchell, her best friend (and wolf shifter) Francine, and Javier’s brother Alejandro. Francine recruits Alejandro to be her fake boyfriend in order to make Mitchell jealous enough to admit their fated mates for each other, only she winds up falling for Alejandro as well. Now they have to work together, put aside their jealousy and hatred, to make Francine happy.

Book 3: Two romances in one! A handyman romance and a cop romance. Jiao and her brother Sheng are running from a man that held them captive for most of their lives, creating a fake identity and fake marriage to each other to hide themselves. But when Jiao finds her mate in Naomi’s brother Chris, and Sheng finds his mate in Chris’ cousin Gina, their secret past is threatening to come to light.

Book 4: A jungle explorer, ménage romance. When three humans get kidnapped during a scientific expedition to the jungle, Naomi’s brother Kendrick and his best friend Joel have been sent by the council to rescue them from the secretive jaguar pack that took them. They don’t expect to find their mate, Ruth, a human and sister to one of the captives, on the expedition.

Book 5: I skipped this one, but it deals with Ruth’s sister Carlie and her two jungle mates. Sort of like a tarzan, jungle romance where Carlie must learn to adhere to their tribe’s traditions while struggling against their confines as a woman. Not to mention their secret ability to change a human into a shifter, and now Carlie also has to learn to be a jaguar like them.

Book 6: A cougar (40 and a cougar-shifter) and ménage romance with prisoner-jailor kink. Naomi’s geeky and computer-savvy brother Stu is suddenly arrested and put in federal prison to help the shifter council hunt down someone who’s been murdering shifters jailed there. He didn’t expect to find his mate in the 40 year old widow, Patricia, or that he had to share her with the ex-con-turned-straight, cell-mate and undercover partner Ricky. Now they have to get past their differences and convince Patricia that her ex-mate would want her to be happy and move on with her life.

Book 7: This one was one of my favorites. A veteran, disability romance between a paralyzed war vet who is struggling to adapt to being in a wheelchair and the human psychologist who has come to help him adapt and deal with his PTSD. Only he wands up finding his mate in her, but thinks she deserves better than someone in a wheelchair who can barely control their nearly rabid wolf-self. It becomes her job to convince him otherwise.

I really enjoyed reading about all of the different family members and their various relationships and problems. Book 7 was definitely one of my favorites and I love that Langlais included a veteran, disability romance in this series. Sometimes I wished the books were longer, but you do get to see the characters from previous books again in the background of the following books, so it helps. If you enjoy shifter romances, this would be a great quick series to read!
