The story is about the protagonist Chika Kudo, a delinquent student who is constantly getting into fights and causing trouble. One day, he stumbles upon the school’s koto club and is immediately drawn to the sound of the instrument. Despite his lack of musical knowledge and experience, Chika is determined to join the club and learn how to play the koto.
However, the club is in a state of disarray, having lost many of its members and struggling to maintain its reputation as a top-tier club. Despite the initial difficulties, Chika’s passion for the koto and his determination to prove himself slowly begin to win over the other members of the Koto club. As the club starts to rebuild and practice for upcoming competitions, they face a series of challenges, including rival koto clubs and personal struggles.

Previously in the manga, Akari, Sen-chan and Haru are up on the national stage, playing the sound of nation, a complicated song. Everything is going well and the audience seems mesmerized by the trio and their talent, when Akari’s koto’s bridge snaps out of nowhere. The snapped bridge throws Akari into a state of panic as he struggles to come up with a way to enter the song once more, when he is reminded of Sen’s motivating and touching words.
Akari remembers Sen-chan and Haru telling him that he is not alone and they both are with him to support him. Akari calms down and decides to enter the song once the tempo goes down a little and manages to do it successfully, much to everyone’s delight. Everyone is in awe for the way Akari managed to get back up after his mistake. The next part highlights Sen’s specialty as the audience is taken aback by the beautiful melody Sen played.
The trio continue playing the song, capturing everyone’s attention. Sen realizes that they are near the part where Akari always has trouble but even that part goes smoothly which makes Sen and Haru very happy. The melody keeps flowing and the audience is almost in a trance like state and they erupt into applause the moment the song finishes. Akari’s friend ask the onee-san about the loud noise in the middle of the performance and if they’re disqualified.

On the other hand, Akari is crying since he realized that they have no chance of winning anymore because of the bridge mishap.
