Murasaki won the Grand Prize at the 33rd Fantasia Taisho with the title Ken to Maou no Cyberpunk in 2020. He renamed the work to Maou 2099 and began publishing it under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko label in January 2021. Kadokawa published the second volume in April 2021.
Shounen Ace Plus began serializing a manga adaptation by Kiiro Akashiro in November 2021.
Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in July 2021 and released the first volume in March 2022. The second volume went on sale last July.
Synopsis
