TikTok Rolls Out New Group Chats With Support For Up To 32 People Per Chat

TikTok just debuted a new Group Chats feature. This will now show support for an upper limit of 32 people in a single chat.

The popular social media app revealed how the feature has been in discussion for a long time. Users were requesting the change and it looks like their prayers are answered.

The popular feature will also give users the chance to comment and react to various videos at the same time on the app. Additionally, TikTok is adding more safety features, including an age restriction. Therefore, if you’re between the ages of 13 to 15, you cannot sign up.

Meanwhile, teenagers between the ages bracket 16 to 17 will be included by friends adding them direction into the group chat. The app considers a ‘friend’ to be anyone that they follow and receive a follow-back request in return. So if you’re afraid of getting added by error into a chat with random strangers, think again.

Still, that does not cancel the possibility that you’re a part of conversations where you’re mingling with unknown people. It’s just that a stranger won’t be able to add you. Meanwhile, other features include joining group chats through a share button.

Meanwhile, TikTok has some more safety features for minors. They cannot join conversations until and unless they have a mutual in the group.

Any teenager who wants to create their own Group Chat will be required to approve every individual joining.

Furthermore, TikTok did clarify how the other features on Group Chats remain the same. You have control over blocking, muting, and reporting anyone you desire as before. If anyone fails to follow the Community standards, they can report the member as well.

To help reduce spam, the platform will limit the groups created and also limit how many times a certain text could be forwarded within a particular group.

In other news, the popular social media platform just rolled out Stickers which can be used in DMs. This means users can curate and publish customized sticker options on the app. Anyone can use this feature on the app for a more interactive experience while messaging.
