Voters Share Home Items Revealing Their Political Views

Fifty or so years ago, it might have been difficult to guess how a person was going to vote just by looking at them. Heck, even fifteen years ago it might have been tricky. But this election has so much at stake that people are pretty clear about which way their vote is going.

In fact, you might have one single item in your house that gives away whom you’re voting for. There’s a TikTok trend where people are responding to a request from user @SusieHomeFaker: “Show me something in your house that tells me who you’re voting for, without telling me who you’re voting for.”

In @SusieHomeFaker’s video, the camera tilts up to reveal two cats, chilling on the couch. What’s wild is that normally, having a cat wouldn’t be much of a political statement. But with J.D. Vance’s recent “childless cat ladies” comments, most of the half-million-plus people who have viewed this video got the idea right away.

Let’s chat about all things 2024 Election

You could tell by all the blue hearts in the comments that the video struck a chord:

Pretty much immediately, others started sharing their “thing” that reveals their preference for president. Some are direct references, like Converse:

While others are a little more based on vibes. Like this one, showing off the user’s bidet:

I’m not gonna say for certain who any of these people are voting for, but I can guess:

Just, y’know, based on the two candidates and their general attitudes toward…stuff:

And their actions and words, too:

But what’s really interesting about this trend is what it reveals about how people view their political identity. For example, there were quite a few electric cars being shown off:

And many bookcases full of books (including banned ones):

Another popular one was a cabinet full of seasoning:

You can bet there were some tampons and pads:

And discarded sharps from one user’s IVF journey:

And then there were the people who pointed out their daughters, same-sex partners, or family members with pre-existing conditions:

And finally, @scdemocrats just went right for it:

So, now I want to ask you…what’s the one thing in your house that you think gives away who you’re voting for? Tell us about it in the comments!
