X Sees Decline In Users And Most Of Them Are From Europe

Elon Musk’s X app is moving in a downward direction when it comes to users, new reports suggest. Interestingly, most of them are from Europe.

In the last couple of weeks, we’ve witnessed figures for X users in decline and that’s all thanks to Elon Musk who simply cannot keep his controversial comments to himself. The recent racially themed riots in the UK led the tech billionaire to speak some ‘not so nice’ things. This includes fears that a civil war in the country was possible.

While third parties refuse to accept the mass exodus of users on the app, they do feel decline is on the rise with time. As per X, figures for users in the EU keep falling and that could mean a major shift.

The Digital Services Act forces all social media apps to share insights of active users in the region on a timely basis, which is six months. As per X’s new update, we got the news of the decline.

Between February to July of this year, it’s not been a great journey for X in this part of the world.

We did see users rise at the start of 2023 but since then, it’s been on a decline. X did report more users were logging in from the EU since the year before that. But perhaps its decision to restrict the figure of posts that non-users can view might be haunting it as not everyone wishes to sign up.

Not everyone wants to be a regular or active user either. So in certain situations, it’s like a win but in others, it’s not. Thankfully, these stats are only for the EU and exclude the UK. Moreover, the stats stand for just one-fifth of the company’s overall user figures. Whatever the case may be, we must accept that the app is not getting the attention that it needs or what Musk and his team had hoped for.

We have yet to see any active users added since the end of 2022. This is when Musk boasted about the app hitting the 250M daily active user mark.

Musk also speaks about the number of users using the app for longer periods is also on the rise so that does mean people dedicate time to it more often than others. It’s not a huge shift, we can confirm.

As seen in the chart, the usage of X in the UK keeps declining with time. Meanwhile, usage of Threads is increasing so yes, the competition is heating up. Many do feel Meta’s app is just another version of Twitter.

Looks like Musk’s approach to making X an app that promotes his free speech ideology is not working or going as planned. His own comments are irking users who wish to steer clear of the platform as much as they can.

Musk might need to limit his discussions on politics as polls did reveal previously that people are sick of such themed content. This might be one reason why they fail to return.
