Blue Box Chapter 90 They’re One and The Same: Recap
Matsouka and Taiki have decided to settle their conflict with a shuttle race. The winner will get a ticket to the Girl’s Winter Cup Final match. All the people in the mall get confused as to how could someone be this desperate for a ticket that they’d race in the middle of nowhere for it. Everyone starts to make up random reasons for their actions, some people thinking there’s more to it than meets the eye.

Matsouka taunts Taiki that he’s getting slowed down after running for so long. Taiki gets angry and replies that he’s far from being slowed down now. Taiki laughs and says that he’s just warming up which shocks Taiki as he’s actually losing stamina quickly with time. Matsouka suggests that they raise the stakes for some more motivation, he asks Taiki to bet that he’d leave Kano if he loses this race. Taiki refuses to accept such a vile bet as he can’t ever lose feelings for her.
Matsouka is quite happy to see such a strong response and so he makes fun of Taiki that nevertheless, losing in front of a huge crowd would be embarrassing no matter what the stakes are. Meanwhile, back in town, Kano has met up with Yumeka despite Taiki telling her in the past not to visit that place. Kano asks Yumeka to tell her what happened, She always asks Yumeka if she works at that place and Yumeka says yes. Kano then realizes why Taiki told her not to visit that place.
Kano asks Yumeka to tell her everything that has happened to her like why she changed schools. What happened after her parents got divorced? And many more things but Yumeka denies her request. Kano holds back tears and starts walking away but suddenly Yumeka shouts “How could I tell you?” she tells Kano that she could never tell her about her shortcomings as Kano considered her a hero.

For so many years, Yumeka has watched over Kano and her spirit to never give up and keep practising. Yumeka slowly lost interest in basketball but she couldn’t tell Kano as telling her would make her feel bad about playing basketball herself and so she always kept quiet as she started hating her for that. Yumeka calls Kano’s love for basketball an obsession and that obsession has led to her not paying attention to other things(referring to Taiki).
Kano stops her and says that she’s wrong and Taiki is not some “other thing”. Kano tells Yumeka that after she left basketball she felt really alone and unmotivated but at that time she saw Taiki and his hard work. She felt empowered seeing him play and it is only because she has someone like Taiki that she never quit and always keep trying her best.
