Dhanush is the stage name of Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raja, an Indian actor, producer, director, lyricist, and playback singer who primarily works in Tamil films. Having appeared in 46 movies throughout the course of his career.

Mother Vijayalakshmi and filmmaker Kasthuri Raja welcomed Dhanush into the world as Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raja on July 28, in the year 1983, in Madras, Tamil Nadu. His original plans were to register in a hotel management program and begin his culinary training. However, he was under pressure to pursue acting from his brother, the director Selvaraghavan.
Dhanush married Aishwarya Rajinikanth, the eldest child of renowned South Indian actor Rajinikanth, on November 18, 2004. Their two children, Yatra and Linga, were born in 2006 and 2010, respectively. He is a fervent and ardent follower of the Hindu god Shiva and has given his two boys Shaivite names.
