This movie had a couple of alternate endings in the pipeline before settling with Scott chasing after Ramona to be with her. In one alternate ending, Scott would end up with Knives instead, but co-writer and director Edgar White said it just “wasn’t right.”
Another alternate ending would have turned the movie pretty sinister, by making Scott a serial killer. Yup, the original idea was to have a news report talking about a teenager killing seven people, who would turn out to be Ramona’s exes that Scott had murdered instead of just defeating in an arcade game.
