Scream 6 Director Working On A New Monster Movie

Fasten your seat belts because Radio Silence is taking us all on yet another horrifying and gruesome journey. Yes, you heard it undoubtedly right. Radio Silence, the horror-making team behind the Scream franchise, has taken up the reigns to direct and produce yet another jaw-dropping movie for Universal along with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.

Chad Villella of the Radio Silence has taken hold over the Scream franchise from the great, late Wes Craven. The trio had been fearless in giving their best and are thrilled to present another gut-wrenching piece. The popularity of Scream 6, which grossed over $168 million worldwide at the box office in March, is proof enough that the makers of the movie are going to treat their fans with another nasty ride.

The title of the yet-to-be-made movie has not been decided. But we know that Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will direct the untitled project. Radio Silence’s Chad Villella has put his hands in the production. Other production partners include William Sherak, James Vanderbilt of Project X Entertainment, and Paul Neinstein. They have also been the production partners in the Scream movies. ‘Ready or Not’ producer Tripp Vinson who also worked with Radio Silence, will be on the production crew.

Details of the upcoming movie

For now, Universal is keeping the plot details of the anonymous movie under their hats. However, at one point, the movie was named ‘Dracula’s Daughter.’ This project centered around a group of kidnappers who kidnaps a band of young people, one of whom ends up being a supposed character. Trouble then falls upon the kidnappers.

The script of the unnamed project was written by Stephen Shields, and the revisions were made by Guy Busick.

According to Universal, the said project is in the same spirit as films like The Invisible Man by Leigh Whannell and Adam McKay’s Renfield, which is a take on Dracula’s side character.

The scariest movie of March, Scream 6, has been the biggest hit in the movie franchise history, with a debut of $44.5 million in the U.S. On these lines, the declaration of Universal Monsters’ film to bring up a next-level horror movie from the makers of The Scream is intriguing for horror movie nerds.

According to Deadline reports, Melissa Barrera, who has been in the last two Scream movies, had been set to reteam with the Scream team in Universal’s monster horror. The untitled movie will be a distinctive take on the famous monster legend.

Tyler Gillett hints about the unnamed movie.

Although the filmmakers are close-mouthed about the upcoming Universal project, Gillett couldn’t help but give a little tease to the movie. “We can tell you we are in Dublin, right, not prepping it,” the director said. “It is in the works right now, and we are so excited to get to work with Melissa again. It is a crime movie that gets hijacked by a monster movie.”

Tyler Gillett promises that the movie is going to be a “bloodbath.”

Anyone who saw Scream 6 third act should likely not be taken aback by the emphasis on gore. The directors’ emphasis on gore is promising for this new Universal Monster production, confirming to viewers that it’s in excellent hands who believe the characters perform best when they land closer to their roots.

Bettinelli-Olpin has also teased about the movie, saying, “It’s a monster movie for Universal, so you know, it’s a dream come true.”

In the past, universal has adopted methods to revisit the old legendary tales, beginning in 2017’s The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise, 2020’s The Invisible Man, and recently released Renfield, starring Nicolas Cage as Count Dracula. The Last Voyage of the Demeter, which will debut in theatres on August 11, also contains BraStroker’s well-known vampire appearance.

What else is Radio Silence is upto?

Previous to Scream 6, Radio Silence directed the well-known horror comedy Ready or Not, which helped Samara Weaving, the star of the movie, become a star. The production house also features works like Devil’s Due, Southbound, and V/H/S. Chad Villella is working with Project X Entertainment along with Paul Neinstein, William Sherak, and James Vanderbilt.

Whatever Universal is cooking up, it is definitely going to bring something macabre and bloodcurdling. And with Radio Silence on board, the expectations of the viewers are going to be pretty high.
