The Blood Moon Chapter 21: Recap
On their way to count Mattei’s territory, Evan calls out to the commander of the holy knights. Hearing Evan call out to him, he asks him if he could temporarily take command, to which Evan, in a serious tone, says that it isn’t the time for him to joke around.
He further cursed Valter, as he still had yet to begin searching the North as ordered by the King. He also said that he had looked into the “Bride” as the commander asked him to; he further states that according to a witness, a young woman, presumably the “Bride,” had moved into the Count’s estate a month ago. Hearing this, the commander feels that she might be in danger.
Meanwhile, in Count Mattei’s castle, Linnea follows the Count to the Chapel. However, before entering the Chapel, Mattei asks Linnea if she has remained loyal to the principles of the Tiabhian faith. Hearing this, she hesitates as it has been quite some time since she had read the scriptures.
After she and Aleksis became intimate, she intentionally feigned ignorance of the creed. She thought she should be honest but decided against it and said she had been loyal to the faith. Hearing this, the Count smirks, saying he hopes she doesn’t disappoint their family.
The Count and Linnea enter the room. Once inside, the Count goes over to a statue and tells Linnea about its origin and relevance to the Tiabhians. He then tells her that an outsider wishing to join their family must prove their purity in front of the sculpture.
He further states that if, up till now, she has been faithful to the Tiabhian faith, then the statue would shed tears of repentance on her behalf. He then asks her to place her hand on its cheek, and hesitatingly she touches the sculpture… however, nothing happens. Seeing this, Count Mattei is furious and rebukes Sofia.
However, Sofia was equally shocked as she couldn’t believe how it could have happened even after she had spent hours reading scriptures. But, Aleksis cut into Sofia mid-sentence, ordering her to stop. The Count, however, was not letting this go and ordered Linnea to be tied.
He then takes a whip to “wash away her sins” until god’s satisfaction is reached. Seeing Linnea about to be hit, Aleksis is in pain and wants to condemn his father. Still, before he couldn’t muster enough courage to do so… Linnea had already been hit.
Linnea’s whole body hurt, but without any concerns, Mattei raises the whip to hit her once again. However, just before the whip could strike Linnea, Aleksis comes in between the Count and her stopping the whip. And with this, the chapter ended.
