Cid, now going by the name of Minoru, is gathering information on Japan’s condition. While trying to know what led to such a tragedy in Japan, Cid finds Akane and pretends to be unconscious which leads her to take him to safety. After waking up, Cid pretends to have lost his memories which would make it easier for him to gather intel. After so many days, Cid finally convinced Akane to tell him about the “Magical Beasts” who terrorize Japan.

Akane tells Cid that it all happened 3 years ago. Some mysterious animals started appearing all over the earth. No one paid attention to them at first and considered them normal animals who’d just end up in zoos someday. But as months passed by, these animals grew in number and started devouring humans. Akane witnessed her friends get torn apart with her own eyes. The massacre was so brutal that more than half of humanity got wiped out instantly. Even the military failed to fend off these Beasts.
All the survivors gathered and tried their best to develop new weapons. In their search for this weapon, one of Japan’s scientists discovered “magic”. This discovery took the world by storm and all scientists came together to finally make a female knight with magical powers. This knight was referred to as “the first knight”. She was so strong that she started wiping out these magical beasts like they were ordinary animals. The humans took advantage of this and developed a new city by the name of Arcadia, a city protected by the first knight.

Everything was fine until one day the night went insane due to her overwhelming powers and ended up killing the entirety of the Arcadian population and disappeared. Since then, the humans have raised several knights and tried to defend themselves. Akane asks Cid if listening to this story made him regain his memories. Cid is excited to hear about such strong opponents but instantly snaps out of it to answer Akane.
Cid fakes a headache and falls unconscious again. Akane asks Cid to not think too much and takes him to Yuuka for a checkup. She then leaves for her patrolling duty. Yuuka tells Cid or Minoru to not step out of the hospital again without informing her as it’s almost stampede time. Cid asks her what is stampede and she explains that it is the time when Hives of monsters appear in the city and various locations and attack humans. Almost every time, humans suffer heavy casualties and so they need to protect everyone.

Yuuka tells Cid that recently a new species of beasts have appeared who are far stronger than the normal ones. They call them “brutal”. Cid acts as if he’s scared but he gets excited on the inside. The Stampede begins and Yuuka leaves the hospital and tells Cid to not leave her room but obviously, Cid can’t miss a chance to fight a strong opponent and so he heads out to defeat one of the hives.
Meanwhile, Akane is trying to keep everyone safe and also prevent infighting. Akane’s superior suggests that they kill Minoru to save some food for other people but Akane angrily disagrees. In some other hospital, Beta has woken up from her fake sleep as well and she has started to work on gathering more information while hiding behind a disguise.
