What happens when the family’s black sheep gets sent to rule another country, and they keep getting mistreated and fail to do one job assigned to them? The series titled Queen Of Oz follows a similar storyline, with Princess Geogiana being the black sheep of the British royal family who spends her life in vain.
Developed by Catherine Tate and Jeff Gutheim, the sitcom soon became one of the most loved series with its well-constructed storyline. Another reason the series became loved by the viewers was the well-written relationship between the main and supporting characters.
The lead character of the series was loved by the viewers as they felt Georgiana was a refreshing character with a unique idea behind it. Directed by Christiaan Van Vuuren, the series stars Catherine Tate playing the role of Queen Georgiana, the princess of the British royal family, and a spoiled brat, Nicky Wardley playing the role of Lady In Waiting.
Robert Coleby plays the role of Bernard, Private Secretary; William McKenna plays the role of Matthew, personal assistant; Rob Collins plays the role of Maec Kemarre, Head of Security Officer; Anthony Brandon plays the role of Weiwei Weng; and Rachel Gordon plays the role of Rebecca Stewart, the Australian Prime Minister in the lead cast.
The series was first brought to the audience on 16 June 2023 and had six episodes as of June 2023. BBC One brought the series to the viewers, and each episode ran for 26-29 minutes. Produced by Michele Bennett, the series production was taken under Lingo Pictures. Written by Catherine Tate and Jeff Gutheim, the story for the series was given by Borga Dorter.

Queen Of Oz- Premise
The sitcom focuses on Princess Georgiana, the spoiled brat of the British Royal family whose only focus is to party and enjoy life. She keeps getting in trouble due to her mischievous personality, and she has been plastered on the cover pages of several tabloids in previous years.
In order to teach Princess Geogiana a lesson, her mother gives up the royal title. The series begins with Princess Georgiana’s arrival at Clayton House School to give a motivational speech to the students of the school. Georgiana’s rotten personality comes out after she pukes on a gif made by Molly, a student of the said school, which results in the paparazzi clicking the pictures of the princess.
Georgiana promises Molly that she will make it up to her, but the princess ends up puking on the sweet girl. Michael informs the princess about Australia having a new Prime Minister and the decision made by the family to send her to Australia forever. Michael also informed Georgiana that she would act as the queen of Australia, and she had been given a chance by the royals to prove her self-worth.
Matthew tries to show Georgiana the menu for her welcome reception while she tries to sleep. Georgiana soon realizes that her staff isn’t loyal to her, and most of the members around her dislike her. The staff only tolerates her as she is a member of the Royal family.
Georgianna is introduced to Marc Kemarre once she arrives in Australia while she continues to make a fuss as she wants to spend time in her air-conditioned room. On her way to the place where she will be staying, Georgiana changes her outfit in the car and, in the heat of the moment, throws Matthews’ computer outside the window. Georgianna gets nervous as she doesn’t deliver her planned speech and ends up telling offensive jokes.
By the end of the first episode, Georgiana realizes she is a liability and the screw-up of her family. Georgiana is excited about getting her portrait on the $5 notes of Australia, but her excitement soon fades away after there is an unflattering portrait printed on the note during the trial round.
Price Fredrick, Georgiana’s brother, and the family’s golden child, arrived in Australia to meet Georgiana and inform her about some distressing news from their parents. Georgiana decides to invite Jessica, her high-school bully, to a lavish dinner to revel in the struggles Jessica has gone through. The series is ongoing and will come to an end on 21 July 2023.
Queen Of Oz- Filming Location-
The production of The Queen Of Oz started in September of 2022, with Wales as the prime location for the filming.
1. Darling Point, Wales-
Wales is a captivating country in the United Kingdom bordered by the Irish Sea, and England was used by the production crew of Queen Of Oz to film some parts of the series.
Darling Point is a suburb located in Wales used by the crew to film the palace and the scenes inside the palace. The scene with Princess Giorgianna’s arrival in the palace in Australia is filmed here.
2. Sydney-
Sydney is one of the largest cities in Australia, famous for its harbourfront Sydney Opera House, which was used by the production crew of Queen Of Oz to film some of the vital scenes of the series. The location was selected for its scenic beauty and alluring architecture.
